Beer News: Baked Pumpkin Ale

In anticipation of fall, Lancaster Brewing Company will release a new Baked Pumpkin Ale in September. This is the Lancaster brewery’s first seasonal pumpkin beer.

Pumpkin beer is a very popular seasonal this time of year and Lancaster Brewing Company sets their Baked Pumpkin Ale apart by using a unique blend of hops, malt and spices. “It’s all about the ingredients, and we brew our pumpkin ale with quality pumpkin, spices and pure vanilla; adding pumpkin and spices to the boil and spices again just before filtering to get the distinctive taste we wanted,” said Bill Moore, Brewmaster at Lancaster Brewing Company.

Most pumpkin beers have an average alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5%. Lancaster’s Baked Pumpkin Ale weighs in with an ABV of 7.7%. “We used additional malt for body and fuller flavor and to deliver the warming sensation we were looking for on the finish, so please drink responsibly and take care not to get too ‘baked’ while enjoying it,” says Moore.
Available seasonally in 12-oz six-packs and on draft, Lancaster Brewing Baked Pumpkin Ale will be in the coolers, on the shelves, and available on tap at the Brewery in mid-September until it’s gone.

I’m talking about the biggies – Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Simcoe, and Amarillo.  Citrus and grapefruit define the flavor of this IPA.
